Juiced Up!
…And no I’m not talking about the ‘roids….this is a nudge to consider taking your nutrition to the next level.
My injuries as a student athlete provided me with an abundance of wisdom to understand how much the saying “health is wealth” remains true.
The simple fact is when you’re unavailable, it takes a major toll on the value that you provide for yourself, your team, and your community. Whether you’re on the field running plays or in your town running a business, your health needs to be at an optimal level, allowing your thinking and doing to reflect.

When my Achilles tore October 14, 2017, my college football career abruptly came to a close, my NFL draft stock plummeted to the floor, and my curiosity about my health skyrocketed.
Whatever was going on, I knew my body was out of balance. It had been my forth major injury in five years(including shoulder surgeries, and a interesting and painful tear in my pelvic cartilage…google pubic symphisis), and I was dealing with a surmounting autoimmune condition that was causing brain fog, hair loss, aches in my muscles, and a growing insecurity about my vitality. Even prior to college football, I can remember plenty of nagging health episodes. However I never thought about the impact of health on my performance down the line. It’s hard to quantify the overall momentum, progress, and performance that those health challenges costed, but I know it was a pretty penny. The body keeps score, and when it’s not receiving the nourishment it needs, the bill always comes due… usually arriving in the form of injuries, inflammation, and a steady erosion of the physical confidence you didn’t realize you were losing in real time.
When You Know Better You Do Better
2018 was a year of deep diving into knowledge beyond what academia could teach me—call it knowledge of self. I had just graduated from Columbia, and as I was learning how to walk again, it was as if I was learning how to see the world from a refreshed, holistic perspective. I knew that there had to be a reason my body felt like it was falling apart. By immersing myself into books on health, farming, architectural design, building, meditation, and more, I developed an elevated understanding of wellness, and a renewed perspective of my life’s trajectory.
Out of all the methods for improved wellness(sleep, hydration, nutrition, thoughts, environment, etc…), I developed a profound focus on nutrition, and the rest of my health habits started to fall in line.
I did my best to purchase food from reliable sources such as the farmers market, and other organic sources from the grocery store. I even went as far as attempting to follow an alkaline plant based “Dr. Sebi” diet. I was making gains to some extent, but there was more to learn and become aware of. The more that I learned the more that I realized that there truly was a gap in what I THOUGHT I was getting from what I was eating and what I was ACTUALLY getting in terms of nutrient density. At the root of it all, this means that you’re more than likely to be consuming food that’s void of its vital nutrients because it was grown, processed, and shipped to your respective grocery store.
This has been biggest learning in my quest for health thus far —the interconnectedness of America’s agricultural practices and the state of the nation’s nutrition. The methods that we utilize to produce the majority of our food has caused great harm to the earth, and there is a price to pay…
…That price is the lack of nutrient density in our food…yes that includes you Whole Foods. When we consume nutrient-deficient food, our bodies operate in a state of deficit. We are currently at a point where this deficit has become the norm.
The more I learned, the more I became devoted towards developing optimal patterns for my recovery. I was making gains and beginning to feel my vitality return bit by bit. An NFL tryout was becoming more of a possibility the closer I reached top speed and baseline strength through my training regimen. That was until my true purpose began to pierce through the fabric of reality, and my focus for creating impact in the world shifted. I began to see how my injuries led me towards having a burning desire to create environments around homes that grow food and encourage an active lifestyle through land stewardship. Did I need to go pro to start making that impact?
…I think we all know the answer to that…
…
What was stopping me from going towards my now definite chief aim…
…
…Nothing
Along Came JP+
Beyond the game of football, I had a renewed understanding of the importance of health. Surely there was more that I didn’t know that would be in my favor. Everyone that has ever trained athletically knows that every percentage of improvement matters. The same applies for the day to day walk of life.
In late 2019, I discovered a company by the name of Juice Plus(JP+) by way of a naturopathic doctor named Dr. Nalani Valentine. She was delivering an online presentation that discussed the condition of traditional farmland, the lack of nutrients in grocery store food, the deficient state of health in the US, and her own impactful health story.
This has been biggest learning in my quest for health thus far —the interconnectedness of America’s agricultural practices and the state of the nation’s nutrition.
This presentation stopped me in my tracks. As she explained the quality and care behind the Juice Plus+ and her near-double decade experience with the product, I could see that It was truly different from anything that I had ever seen. Not to mention, I’ve had plenty of negative experiences with “supplements” and “vitamins”…nor could I remember any research or evidence supporting the efficacy of those products.
The Juice Plus+ company sources its fruits and vegetables through trusted third-party growers, maintains NSF-certified production with strict quality and safety audits, and processes its ingredients at low temperatures to protect their natural compounds—contributing to a product line backed by decades of clinical research and often cited as the most extensively studied nutritional product in the WORLD.

I looked through videos, attended informational sessions, heard countless success stories, and continued about my own studies for about a year before I decided to try the product. I could imagine how my injury history and lack of knowledge made me susceptible to a gradual decay. I was determined to fill in those gaps. No longer did I have to wonder about where I went wrong. The evidence was all there.
I needed to consume top tier nutrition…
I haven’t looked back sense starting with my own Juice Plus+ regimen. Now I am on a mission to let as many student athletes know what I now know…
I’ve been working with this company and consuming the product going on 4 years, and I wish I heard about it sooner in my life. I take my Juice Plus+ everyday, sometime twice a day. Im always on the go, and this product has helped me maintain my pace and helped me forego less-than-high-quality food options.
It costs less than $5 a day, and helps me maintain high baseline nourishment levels, and save on my monthly grocery bill. It is food in a capsule, food that is alive, food that nourishes my body down to the cellular level.

Are You Subscribed to Health?
We live in a subscription economy, where we find ourselves purchasing what we need and want on a regular interval. Whether that be home utilities, gas in the car, groceries for the week, or your favorite streaming service, it’s going to cost you. Look closer at those costs and determine how much value you’re receiving.
With what my body has been through, maintaining consistency with Juice Plus+ isn’t a fad—it’s a cornerstone of real, measurable value in my wellness regimen. I am juiced up.
